Peak District Wedding Photographer

Wedding photography, with a good dose of fresh air, sunlight, and beautiful outdoor scenery.

Covering the Peak District and beyond.

Here at Dark Peak, I am all about getting as much natural light and as many scenic backdrops as possible into my photos, and watching the joy, and splendid chaos of weddings unfold through my camera lens whilst remaining as unobtrusive as possible. I’m your girl if you would like ‘fly on the wall’ style coverage, without the posing and awkwardness, so that your day doesn’t feel like a photoshoot, and so that you get to just celebrate being your brilliant selves.

Hi! I’m Melly.

A proper ‘country bumpkin’ who grew up in the best shire in England (Shropshire, obviously). A lover of seasides, cats, motorbikes, and wandering through French streets taking my job as a crêpe-enthusiast very seriously. Mum to two hilarious and brilliant boys named Isaac and Lucas, as well as to three rescue cats named Rupert (dog-sized), Basil (more issues than Kevin from We Need to Talk about Kevin), and Gilou (named after the cop from the French TV show Spiral). An ex-secondary school English teacher, who loves writing stories that I’ll never finish, reading, and collecting dusty old books. My dream is to have a circular library inside a circular house. I live in the quaint and quirky town of New Mills in the High Peak, just a stone's throw from the beautiful scenery of the Peak District, and from the borders of Cheshire and Greater Manchester. I’m always up for a roadtrip, so I’ll travel anywhere to capture your wedding day!

Family photography that celebrates mud, laughter, and sticky fingers.

At home and outdoors.

I love capturing families, both at home and in the great outdoors.

For me, it is all about keeping things as real and natural as possible, to help you look back on all the little things that really matter - like the way those tiny chubby toddler fingers close around yours, and how you used to dance around the garden together, and how that silly face causes you to crease with laughter.

All you need to do is show up and be yourselves!

Give the gift of photos.

Portrait session gift vouchers are the perfect way to treat someone you love, with something that they can keep forever.

Each voucher can be exchanged for a one hour portrait photography session in the outdoor location of their choice, at home, or in the Dark Peak studio in New Mills. They will receive a minimum of 35 final edited images to download and share from an online gallery. Images are at full resolution and watermark free.
